Fr. Albert Laforet, Jr., was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He is the son of Albert J. and Adeline A. Laforet, has two sisters, Mary Laforet and Michelle Monticello, and one brother, John Laforet.
He graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in Detroit, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Texas. He was a Brother of St. John from 1988-1993 in Laredo and France. He worked at Seton Medical Center in Austin and received certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN). He was a Cathedral Parishioner prior to entering the Diocesan Seminary in the fall of 1998. Fr. Albert graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Theology with a Masters in Divinity and was ordained a Priest on June 8, 2002, by Bishop Gregory Aymond.
Fr. Albert served as Associate Pastor at St. Albert the Great Parish, Austin, in 2002; Associate Pastor St. Mary Cathedral from 2003-2006; Associate Pastor of St. Louis Church Waco from 2006-2008 and Rector of St. Mary Cathedral from 2008-2016.
He also speaks French and a little Spanish.
