CALLING ALL WOMEN: Be a part of the FAMILIA family.
Familia stands for Family Life In America. It is a 4 year program - but don't worry! We take it one year at a time and there isno obligation to complete all 4 years. The order of the programs - year 1-Authentic Feminism, year 2-Prayer, year 3-Marriage and Family, and year 4-Called to Act. There is a workbook specific to each year that each participant orders on-line and the cost is approx $49. (We have a few scholarships available of someone is in need of one.)
Each "Team" consists of usually 8-10 ladies who meet at the church twice monthly (2nd and 4th weeks) for an hour and a half to study the teachings of the Church through the Catechism and Pope JP II"s encyclicals. We also have a Gospel Reflection of the Gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday. Each participant will read the lesson in her workbook prior to the meeting and answer the questions. She comes to the meeting prepared to discuss her "answers." It is an interactive time among the ladies, not just a question/answer time. You will learn concrete, helpful ways to enrich your family life and bring your family closer to Christ by becoming closer to Him and the Blessed Mother yourself. You might just meet a new friend or two also!
There are 8 sessions in Year I, "Authentic Feminism." We will begin in September and finish before Spring Break.
Both day and evening sessions are available. The daytime meetings will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on the 2nd and 4th Friday mornings, 9:30-11am. The evening meeting would be held at St. Joseph Church, the day yet to be decided.
If you have questions/concerns/need more information, call or email Meredith Olson [email protected] 695-6440 or Patty Veazey [email protected] 777-5045. There will be signups after the weekend Masses on August 15.
