Catechists

"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a sheperd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

Aquinas Kids depends on the selfless service of adults who are committed to sharing the Gospel and walking alongside children in their faith journey. If you are interested in being a part of the Aquinas Kids team, please let us know below!

There are many ways to serve!

1. Aquinas Kids Catechists - lead weekly grade-level sessions (In-Person or Virtual this year) where children learn more about Jesus's love for them and His Church who continues His mission.

2. Hall Monitors - help us by being available to assist a catechist with any classroom needs, mark the beginning and end of sessions, and assist with cleaning up the areas after classes.

3. Becoming Catholic for Children Catechists - lead session for children who are not baptized or are baptized in different faith and teach them the truths of our faith. For more details about this program, click here. 

4. First Reconicilation and Communion Preparation Catechists - lead sessions for children preparing for receiving First Holy Communion. This program starts in the Spring. For more information, click here. 

Requirements for STA Catechists

1. All catechists are required by Diocese of Austin to attend an EIM training (Ethics & Integrity in Ministry). This must be completed before the first class starts. For more info on EIM, click here.

2. It is also required to attend catechist training at the parish. 

Catechetical formation oportunities
Diocesan Office of Catechesis provides for all catechists "Catechist Certification Program" in both theology and methodology.
