The Confirmation program at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish follows the guidelines of the Diocese of Austin, and these guidelines govern who may receive the Sacrament. Please read below to ensure that your high school student is eligible to receive Confirmation.
Youth must be in high school, 10th - 12th grade, and have attended faith formation in a parish or Catholic school for the year prior to Sacrament preparation and the year during Sacrament preparation.
Confirmation for teens is generally given during their 10th grade year at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Therefore, the normal faith formation requirement is the 9th and 10th grade years.
Youth must be Baptized and have received their First Communion.
If a youth is not baptized, please refer to the Becoming Catholic (7-18 Years) pages for more information.
If a youth has been baptized Catholic but not received First Communion, the youth will complete an additional First Communion Preparation Course during their second year of faith formation.
Youth must attend all Confirmation preparation sessions.
