Maidens of the Altar is an organization of young women ages 12 to 18 who are seeking to grow in virtue, in understanding and appreciation of their Catholic faith and the liturgy as well as the gift of their femininity while actively striving to serve the parish and prayerfully discerning their own vocations.
Maidens of the Altar will meet every other month after the 11 AM Mass.
After our potluck lunch, we will have games, discussions of the virtues of Mary, listen to speakers, learn about various ways to serve, plan ways to serve the church as a group, and potentially read a formative book together.
Maidens will be active members of the St. Thomas Aquinas parish community. They will frequent the sacraments and encourage those around them to do so. Maidens will strive to grow in virtue and encourage those around them to be virtuous in their words and actions. Maidens will seek to prayerfully discern God’s call and encourage one another to live out Mary’s “fiat” in their lives. Maidens will be an example of humble service to the parish community.
When possible, mothers of the Maidens of the Altar should attend meetings with their daughters and support their mission through prayer and encouragement.
